Redmi Note 12R Is the First Phone to Launch With Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC

Xiaomi recently unveiled the Redmi Note 12R in China. This model serves as the vanilla variant of its Pro counterpart that debuted earlier this year and comes equipped with an upgraded Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC. Xiaomi may bring this phone internationally too.

Redmi Note 12R will deliver improved processing performance, an energy efficient display and enhanced camera features at an attractive price point. Furthermore, this device’s prices are lower than its ‘Pro’ sibling making it even more appealing as an attractive purchase option. With two 50 MP sensors and 2 MP secondary sensors on its rear panel; and an 8 MP selfie camera located within its punch hole cutout on the front for selfie-taking purposes on both sides – all powered by its 5,000 mAh battery running Android 13 OS!

While similar in many aspects to its Pro variant, the Redmi Note 12R’s new chip should provide significant performance advantages. Built on Qualcomm Snapdragon’s 4nm node which should lead to greater energy efficiency compared to 6nm used by Pro model; also comes equipped with Adreno GPU graphics processing power.

Redmi Note 12R features an all-new 6.79-inch FHD+ flat display with a 90Hz refresh rate and punch hole cutout to accommodate for the selfie camera. This screen supports wide color gamut support, 10bit HDR support, hardware-level low blue light reduction capabilities and hardware level low blue light filtering, with increased brightness than its Pro counterpart.

On the software front, this phone runs Google’s Android 13 operating system with additional apps preinstalled from Xiaomi such as image gallery apps and web browser. Notable among these additions is Discover feed on the left of the home screen alongside multiple versions of image gallery app by Xiaomi including image viewer notes manager web browser; its inclusion appears arbitrary at best and makes no real sense at all.

Redmi Note 12R has launched in China with a starting price of 1,100 Yuan ($153). You can purchase it through Xiaomi’s official online store, Lazada stores and TikTok shops as well as authorized resellers across the nation. Redmi Note 12R comes in Midnight Black, Sky Mirage and Time Blue colors and will soon be offered with different SoC options and storage capabilities in India if available through both Amazon and Flipkart. The Indian version may feature a side-mounted fingerprint scanner instead of the in-display unit found on other Xiaomi phones, or it could use power button as its fingerprint scanner – more details will become available as we learn them! Stay tuned for further updates regarding Redmi Note 12R!
