  • Cocaine Bear Review. Worth watching?

Cocaine Bear takes the real story of a 175-pound black bear that overdosed on cocaine in 1985 and twists it into a blood-soaked, gory B-movie extravaganza. But while it’s fun, it doesn’t really work.

Directed by Elizabeth Banks from a script by Jimmy Warden, the film is largely a series of sight-gags and CGI-gore-filled pratfalls that make you laugh at what could have been a much more polished effort.

    Adapted from a True Story

Loosely based on a true story, Cocaine Bear Review is an incredibly hilarious film that combines elements of action, comedy and horror. Director Elizabeth Banks (Pitch Perfect 2, the 2019 Charlie’s Angels remake) has a knack for making movies that aren’t afraid to be over-the-top.

The story is loosely adapted from an incident in 1985 where a black bear accidentally ingested a bag of cocaine, which led to his death. The movie then follows a handful of characters who get caught up in the bear’s drug-crazed rampage. Including a drug kingpin (the late Ray Liotta), his muscle Daveed (O’Shea Jackson Jr.) and his heartbroken son Eddie (Alden Ehrenreich).

    Directed by Stephen Banks

In her third feature as a director (following “Pitch Perfect 2” and “Charlie’s Angels”), Elizabeth Banks takes a wild premise and slams it into a dark comedy. It’s a tame, but fun, attempt at reviving the gory animal attack movie genre, with influences ranging from Jaws to Evil Dead to Fargo.

Cocaine Bear largely works on the merit of a bare-bones, slapstick script written by Jimmy Warden. The script veers between gallows humor and horror-adjacent suspense scenes, as well as more wacky moments that are just as enjoyable, like an improbable ambulance chase that ends with dismemberment and a bloody skid mark.

    Starring Alden Ehrenreich

Cocaine Bear is a film that was inspired by a true story. The premise is simple: duffel bags of cocaine are dropped from an airplane over the Georgia wilderness, and a bear ends up getting into them.

The movie follows three different groups that converge on the same spot to see what happens. There are Missouri drug dealers Syd (Ray Liotta) and Daveed (O’Shea Jackson Jr.) tasked with reclaiming the cocaine, and a Tennessee detective who’s on a mission to apprehend a career-making arrest.

As the cocaine-fueled rampage unfolds, the cast gets into some hilarious hijinks. They also get into some serious violence, with people being repeatedly mutilated and shot.

    Written by Jimmy Warden

Based on a true story, Cocaine Bear offers up a fun premise for a horror comedy. But while the movie has a few genuinely funny moments, its excessive nature fails to deliver on the potential of this concept.

Warden’s script feels hamstrung by too many subplots and characters, including two children (Brooklyn Prince and Christian Convery) who encounter a bear who does cocaine. The humor falls flat, and the children’s roles are unnecessarily one-dimensional.

It’s easy to see how the movie could be an instant hit, but Banks and Warden seem determined to prioritize fast laughs over thought-provoking consequences. The result is a film that can’t quite rise above the level of exploitation fare.

    Rated PG

Cocaine Bear is a movie that can be watched by teens, but it’s not recommended for kids under 17 due to the violence and drug content. The movie also includes a lot of blood and gore.

The film is based on a true story and loosely follows the events of a cocaine smuggler who lost a large amount of cocaine in the mountains of Georgia in 1985. A giant black bear finds the drugs and ingests them, killing the smuggler.

    Runtime: 105 minutes

Cocaine Bear Review is a comedy about an R-rated drug-fueled bear going apeshit. It’s a major studio movie, a goofy stoner movie that isn’t afraid to go all out and show us the blood-soaked gore of an animal getting ripped apart and eviscerated by the power of cocaine.

The premise of the film is pretty simple: After a pratfall in a plane leads a drug runner to dump kilos of cocaine on Blood Mountain in 1985, a black bear discovers them and becomes a ferocious animal that attacks hikers, a gang of thugs, a single-mom nurse, park rangers, and a police detective (Isiah Whitlock Jr.) on the hunt for the cocaine-fueled beast.

  • Elden Ring?s First Major Expansion? Shadow of the Erdtree? Announced

Just a few days after the game’s one-year anniversary, developers FromSoftware have announced its first major expansion for Elden Ring. Titled ‘Shadow of the Erdtree,’ this will be released on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X.

While no details were provided, lore-savvy fans believe the expansion will revolve around Miquella. He’s the brother of Malenia, and was captured by Mohg, Lord of Blood, in order to feed him the blood god he worships.

    Gameplay

If you’re a fan of Elden Ring, this news will have you jumping for joy. Developer From Software has announced a major piece of DLC for the game, Shadow of the Erdtree.

After selling 20 million copies and winning every game of the year award, fans have been clamoring for new content. The studio has been relatively quiet on the subject so far, releasing patches to balance and improve PvP in the game’s collosseums, but no big expansion announcements until now.

The announcement comes in the form of a tweet from the official Elden Ring Twitter account. The message bids the Tarnished to “walk a new path” and reveals that the studio is currently developing a “new expansion.”

In addition, From Software has also released what appears to be a piece of concept art for the upcoming DLC. The image shows a lone rider traveling across a field of wheat towards an enormous tree in the distance. The tree appears to be rotting and leaking a golden light from within.

    Release Date

A year after it launched, FromSoftware and Bandai Namco have finally announced the long-awaited Elden Ring DLC – Shadow of the Erdtree. Announced by the developer’s Twitter account, the expansion is currently in development and is coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, and PC later this year.

The first major expansion for the game, Shadow of the Erdtree will bring players to new locations and enemies throughout the Land Between. It will also be accompanied by new PVP modes that will allow players to compete in duels, free-for-alls, and team fights at the new Colosseums in Limgrave, Leyndell, and Caelid.

This is the biggest expansion to an already-successful souls title, and it’s bound to be an even bigger experience than the multiplayer Colosseum update that arrived back in December. While we won’t know what to expect until the release date is out, it’s safe to say that the new content will be a lot more ambitious than anything the game has seen so far.

    Trailer

FromSoftware shocked the world with Elden Ring, which was released in early 2022 to near universal acclaim and quickly became the studio’s biggest game to date. It has since sold more than 20 million copies, with the latest update opening up Colosseums in Limgrave, Leyndell and Caelid to allow for PvP battles including duels, free-for-alls and team fights.

In addition to announcing a new major expansion, FromSoftware has also released key artwork for Shadow of the Erdtree. It’s not much to go on, and no release date has been given, but it should spark some lore speculation on forums and social media in the days ahead.

Many Elden Ring fans believe that the DLC will revolve around Miquella, Malenia?s brother, who is one of the Empyreans and has been cursed to be forever young. Throughout the game, Miquella is mentioned but never appears in-game. However, Sir Gideon Ofnir recently confirmed that Miquella is still alive and in a cocoon inside Mohg?s arena.

    Final Words

After sweeping multiple Game of the Year awards and selling 20 million copies in its first year, FromSoftware has announced its first major expansion for Elden Ring. Titled Shadow of the Erdtree, this update will be coming to PS4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.

The announcement comes on the heels of Elden Ring’s successful release and has fans excited for the latest addition to this wildly popular action roleplaying game. Since its launch, FromSoftware has released several small patches to add more content and PvP features, including a free Colosseum update in December that opened up several of the game’s arenas.

The new expansion will be focusing on the character Miquella, whose uncle Mohg kidnapped her and placed her in a cocoon in his boss room, causing her to become a blood god. This will be an opportunity for players to explore her background and discover what she was fighting against in the beginning of the game.

  • Government Issues Quality Standards for USB Type-C Chargers

The Indian government has recently issued quality standards for USB Type-C Chargers. This is a move that will help consumers get a consistent charging experience across devices and meet the country’s goal of reducing e-waste.

The Indian standard is based on the existing international standard IEC 62680-1- 3:2022 and it provides requirements for USB Type C port, plug, and cables for use in various electronic devices. These standards will provide common charging solutions for smartphones and other electronic devices sold in India.

    1. Reliability

In order to make sure that USB Type-C Chargers are reliable, the Government of India has issued quality standards. These standards ensure that USB Type-C cables and connectors are compatible with a wide range of devices and meet set performance specifications, giving users a consistent charging experience.

This is important because consumers often have several devices, some of which use a different type of charger. This can lead to a number of issues.

One issue is the amount of power that a device receives when charging. This can cause problems if the device requires more power than what the cable is capable of delivering.

To prevent this from happening, the USB-IF has increased the upper voltage limit for USB Type-C to 5.5 V. This is a higher limit than what USB 2.0 allows and it helps combat the issue of voltage droop at high currents. This is another reason why USB Type-C is a popular choice among tech enthusiasts.

    2. Safety

The USB-C port is a new way to connect computers and smartphones. It’s fast, reversible and versatile.

But the new standard also opens up new risks. The connector pin pitch is tighter than the 2.5-mm pitch of USB Type-A, which could allow resistive faults that can damage both cables and devices.

These resistive faults can cause dangerous temperature rises while increasing current only minimally.

This is a significant safety hazard because it can destroy the charger, cable or device being charged.

To mitigate this risk, the USB-IF (USB Implementers Forum) has developed a program called E-Mark that electronically tags USB-C chargers with their power rating and data transfer rate. This will help prevent 100W of power from being pushed down a cable that can’t handle it.

    3. Functionality

The government has issued quality standards for USB Type-C Chargers, which will help reduce e-waste and ensure the consistent functioning of electronic devices. These standards have been published by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and are expected to provide uniform charging options for smartphones and other electronic devices sold in India.

The USB Type-C standard has a reversible connector, enabling it to be used in a wide range of products. It also features high data transfer speeds and up to 100 W power flow.

However, these specifications are not sufficient for all devices and some of them require additional specifications such as USB PD, which enables more flexible power delivery. It can also negotiate for incremental power delivery levels, which can be useful for charging batteries.

USB PD can add complexity and cost to designs, so it should be used only when the USB Type-C port needs to support power above 5 V at 3 amps. Using a non-conforming power supply in this case may result in equipment damage.

    4. Cost

Most modern devices come with a USB-C connection, which means that you don’t have to carry around multiple cables or chargers for each device. This is a huge time and space saver for people who like to travel frequently.

These new cables are reversible, meaning you can plug them in either way for maximum convenience. These cables can also charge your devices quickly.

In addition, many of these devices are rated to deliver more power than previous USB adapters. That is thanks to a new material called gallium nitride, or GaN, which enables these devices to be built in much smaller sizes.

For most chargers, the power output is measured in watts. The chargers range from small one-inch cubes that promise 18W to larger devices that are rated at 30-45W or 60W.

  • All iPhone 15 Models to Get Apple’s Dynamic Island

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman claims Apple will bring the Dynamic Island pill-shaped camera cutout from iPhone 14 Pro to all four of the iPhone 15 models later this year.

It’s an interesting move that follows Apple’s pattern of introducing new hardware-dependant features on the higher-end iPhones then making them universal one or two generations later on more affordable models. This time, it could help normalize this unique notch alternative and make it easier for third-party apps to support it.

    1. iPhone 15 Pro

The Dynamic Island cutout that Apple debuted on last year’s iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max is set to make its way across the entire iPhone 15 lineup, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. All models of the next-gen iPhones will have a punch-hole cutout that’s similar to the one on the Pro and Max, and it could show information like ongoing notifications, privacy indicators, music album art, and navigational directions.

While it’s a fresh design element, it’s also very useful, as it can display information in real-time based on what you’re doing, making it easier to multitask and get the most out of your device. For example, when you play music, a small bit of album art is displayed on the Island, as is a visual equalizer or the next action of a mapped route.

It’s a feature that can help boost the overall capabilities of the iPhone lineup, and it can also encourage developers to take advantage of this space and add their own features. However, it will be up to Apple to decide if they want to expand the use of this unique feature in the future.

    2. iPhone 15 Plus

Apple is rumored to be planning to bring Dynamic Island to all iPhone 15 Models. This could mean that the notch won’t be a thing of the past for Apple phones anymore, and that the Dynamic Island cutout would be an integral part of iOS 16.

If you’re familiar with the feature, it’s an OLED display cutout in the top right corner of the screen that expands to show notifications like Face ID unlock, battery charging, AirPods, incoming calls, etc. In addition to that, small icons persist in the cutout area as a hub for shortcuts to apps that you’re using.

Apps that support Dynamic Island will automatically morph into the cutout to let you know when they’re updating in the background. That can be an important detail if you’re waiting for a food delivery order, a ride with a friend, or the score of a basketball game that’s in progress. Plus, it can help keep you on top of Live Activities, a new iOS 16 Lock screen feature that’s constantly updating with real-time information.

    3. iPhone 15

If you’re in the market for a new iPhone, you might be pleased to learn that all four iPhone 15 models will get Apple’s Dynamic Island. The pill-shaped front-facing display cutout was introduced last year on the iPhone 14 Pro and has been a popular feature with consumers.

Specifically, Dynamic Island lets users view ongoing notifications and other information like AirDrop connections, music playing, timers, and directions from Maps, all through an expandable area surrounding the notch. It’s a big change from older notches and hole-punch cutouts, and it makes for a fresh and fun look.

According to MacRumors, the feature is expected to appear on all four upcoming iPhone 15 models next year. That’s good news for fans who want a taste of Apple’s Dynamic Island but don’t need all the Pro features it offers.

    4. iPhone 15 Ultra

Apple’s Dynamic Island is a very unique design element that debuted on the iPhone 14 Pro last year. It’s intended to provide quick access to useful information like if AirPods are connected, the next action of a mapped route or what song is currently playing on Apple Music.

While the feature is currently exclusive to the iPhone 14 Pro, it’s expected to make its way to all four of Apple’s upcoming devices later this year. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, all four iPhone 15 models will get the Dynamic Island.

The Dynamic Island’s pill-shaped cutout can morph to show additional information, which could be helpful in real-world scenarios. For instance, if you’re running and want to see if you have time left in a stopwatch, the Dynamic Island will expand to display that info.

The rumor also suggests that Apple will introduce reverse wireless charging, a feature many Android phones already have. This would allow users to charge other devices using the back of their phone, and it could be very handy for AirPods users.

  • Google Pixel Watch Gets January 2023 Update

If you own a Google Pixel Watch, you should know that it’s getting a January 2023 update. The new build focuses on bug fixes and includes the latest security patch.

The update also brings a fix to address 3rd party watch faces turning off after 15 minutes with always-on display (AOD) enabled. It also includes fall detection, which isn’t yet enabled by default.

    1. Fix to address 3rd party watch faces turning off after 15 minutes

One of the reasons Apple isn’t letting third party watch faces gracing its crown is battery life. While the iPhone X and its predecessors ate up a lot of juice over the course of a day, a power hog akin to the latest and greatest Android wearable will eat you alive in a pinch. It’s not all doom and gloom however. Fortunately, the fix isn’t too difficult to execute.

    2. Fix to address Bluetooth connectivity issues

Google is among one of the fastest update-providing Android OEMs and its January 2023 update brings a few fixes to certain Pixel phones. Those include Bluetooth issues and low-energy device pairing.

According to a thread on Reddit, several users are reporting that the update is breaking their in-car Bluetooth connectivity. Fortunately, the problem appears to be fixable.

    3. Fix to address 3rd party watch faces turning off after 15 minutes

The Apple Watch has complications that allow third-party apps to display additional data on one of its watch faces. Most complications only run for a few seconds, several times an hour, to save battery life.

Because Apple engineers do a lot of testing to ensure the code driving the watch face is power-efficient, it wouldn’t make sense for them to open up watch-face development to third-party developers at this time.

    4. Fix to address 3rd party watch faces turning off after 15 minutes

The code that drives a watch face runs 24 hours a day, for months on end, so it’s critical that it uses as little power as possible. But third-party developers don’t have the resources to do this sort of testing. That’s where the Apple Watch comes in. It has its own test suite, and a large team of engineers that can run automated and manual tests on the watch’s software.

    5. Fix to address 3rd party watch faces turning off after 15 minutes

Apple wants third-party watch faces to work, but it’s not going to allow them unless they can be sure that the code driving each face is as bug-free as possible. That requires massive amounts of testing, which isn’t practical for developers who don’t have the resources to perform those tests. It also means a lot of third-party complications don’t display properly because they consume too much power.

    6. Fix to address 3rd party watch faces turning off after 15 minutes

It’s important that watch faces operate in a power-efficient manner. That’s why Apple does a lot of testing on the code that drives watch faces. Third-party developers may not have the same resources available to test their code. Hopefully, they’ll fix this bug soon. It’s a bug that can be annoying if you’re using an app-based complication that runs for 15 minutes at a time.

    7. Fix to address 3rd party watch faces turning off after 15 minutes

The problem with third-party watch faces is that they aren’t tested to the same level of quality as Apple’s. For instance, they are often designed to save battery life by using a complication with static data that only runs a few times a minute. Hopefully the update comes with some fixes to address this.

If you have any bug reports or questions, please reach out to us on Twitter or Facebook!

    8. Fix to address 3rd party watch faces turning off after 15 minutes

Apple has very specific requirements for how watch face code is written and how it consumes power. Those demands are simply too much for smaller developers to meet, even if they were to be as diligent as Apple’s watch engineers. That’s why Apple doesn’t allow third-party watch faces in the App Store. But that could change soon. We’ll keep you updated. Thanks!

    9. Fix to address 3rd party watch faces turning off after 15 minutes

Apple is aware of this issue and is working on a fix. The problem occurs when using a watch face that hasn’t been updated for the new always-on display.

Those old faces have to be modified to stay on in a power-saving mode with a lower frame rate. This requires the removal of animations.

    10. Fix to address 3rd party watch faces turning off after 15 minutes

For a start, this update is pretty big, but Google has managed to squeeze in an extra two or so minutes of battery life on the go. They’re also kicking the fanny when it comes to preventing your cherished watch from going the way of the dodo. The best part? It’s totally free. Hopefully this is the first of many updates to come.

  • Google Reportedly Working on New Chromecast With Google TV

A new Chromecast with Google TV may be on the way, according to a report from 9to5Google. It’s reportedly being worked on and has recently appeared in the Google Home app preview update.

The Chromecast with Google TV is one of the best streaming devices around, offering a small form factor and full Google TV support at a relatively affordable price. It also offers a remote and access to more than 10,000 Android TV apps.

    APK Teardown

A new APK Teardown by 9to5Google reveals that Google is currently working on a new Chromecast with Google TV. The device, codenamed Boreal, is said to be running the same software as the current version and should be available in 2022.

It appears to feature support for the AV1 format, which Google now requires from all Android TV devices launched after March 2021, an increase in storage capacity and better processing power. It may also offer a better HDR experience as well as support for 8K resolutions.

Another interesting thing about the APK teardown is that it reveals that Google may be working on adding a universal remote to the Chromecast app. This would let users control any Android TV device using their phone or tablet, provided it is connected to the same Wi-Fi network or Bluetooth signal.

Aside from the added remote functionality, the latest version of the Chromecast app also reveals some new background images when it isn’t casting any content. These could be either news, offers or recent photos.

    Specs

Chromecast has been one of the hottest streaming devices in recent years. It’s a simple, easy-to-use media player that beams content to your TV via Wi-Fi.

Google is reportedly working on a new version of its Chromecast with Google TV that looks different from previous models, and it has some interesting features. It’s slimmer and longer than the other versions, and it uses a USB-C port for power instead of a micro-USB connection like all the others.

The device also comes in two versions: Chromecast With Google TV (HD) and Chromecast With Google TV 4K. The HD is powered by an Amlogic S805X2 CPU, while the 4K version has a Cortex-A35 chip.

The new Chromecast With Google TV is a more advanced streaming stick than the previous model thanks to a new user interface running on top of Android TV. It offers personal suggestions based on your subscriptions, viewing habits, and content that you own.

    Price

The $30 Google Chromecast with Google TV isn’t exactly an expensive streaming device. But it’s a solid choice for people looking to bring smarts and video streaming to older 1080p TVs.

Google’s goal with Chromecast is to make content discovery on your big screen easier and more enjoyable than ever before. That’s why it offers a wide selection of apps, including Netflix, Hulu and Spotify.

It also supports HDR, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. That means you can get a better picture for less money than with a dedicated 4K set-top box.

As a bonus, the device comes with an intelligent menu system that can make sense of all your options, as well as a functional remote. Plus, it’s got the latest Android TV upgrades and a Google Assistant at your fingertips.
