Moto has confirmed a new Razr foldable smartphone edition in 2023. While it looks like a traditional clamshell flip phone, it’s actually a full-fledged Android smartphone.

Motorola has found a solution to the main drawback with current foldable phones, which have a creased screen when folded. The company has constructed a special hinge mechanism that allows the screen to fold completely flat without any visible crease.

What is the Razr 2023?

Motorola’s parent company Lenovo has confirmed a new Razr foldable smartphone edition, which is set to debut this June. The upcoming device, which is codenamed Juno, will be “much better” than its predecessors, according to Lenovo’s CEO Yang Yuanqing in an interview with CNBC.

The upcoming Razr 2023 will reportedly feature a massive cover display, which will take up nearly the entire cover panel of the clamshell phone. It’s expected to be larger than the 2.7-inch outer display on last year’s model and even bigger than the 3.26-inch one on the OPPO Find N2 Flip.

The new clamshell-style device is expected to come with flagship-calibre specifications. It’s also said to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor and will feature a 6.7-inch FHD+ P-OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate. It will also include a 64MP + 13MP dual-camera setup and a 32MP front camera.

Design

Motorola revived the iconic Razr brand in 2020, becoming one of the first smartphone makers to launch a device with a bendable screen. It’s a bold move that paved the way for other manufacturers to follow suit.

Now, the company has confirmed that it’s planning to release a new Razr foldable smartphone edition in 2023. Known as the Razr 2023, it’s set to be unveiled at a launch event in June.

Leakster Evan Blass has shared a few renders of the Razr 2023 that show how it’ll look when it’s opened up like a clamshell. It’ll have a large cover display that takes over most of the outer panel and also has a redesigned UI.

This is a big upgrade over the Razr 2022, which got a flattened clamshell design and a small cover screen that didn’t do much more than take over half of the front. The Razr 2023, on the other hand, will get a huge cover display that’ll be bigger than its predecessor and offer a better viewing experience without needing to flip it open as much.

Specifications

In a recent interview with CNBC, Lenovo CEO Yuanqing Yang confirmed that a new Razr foldable smartphone edition will be launched soon. He said that the phone would be better than its predecessor, but offered very little details.

This smartphone is rumored to feature cutting-edge specifications and a decent 4000 mAh battery to offer you a smooth experience while playing games or watching movies. Its Octa core processor will help you access multiple apps and run intense graphics games with ease.

Furthermore, the device is tipped to come with an eye-catching display that will enable you to watch movies and videos without having to worry about the battery draining too quickly. It will also house a fingerprint sensor to secure your personal information.

Motorola’s Razr is one of the most popular flip phones of all time and it has become a must-have for people that like to be trendy and stylish. It is a versatile device that can be used for everything from texting and calling to listening to music.

Pricing

In 2020, Motorola rebooted the iconic Razr brand and became one of the first smartphone makers to release a foldable phone in the clamshell form factor. It is currently available only in China, where the company is based, though it has received positive reviews.

In an interview with CNBC at MWC 2023, Lenovo CEO Yuanqing Yang said that a new Razr foldable device would be launched later this year. While he didn’t reveal any further details, the new phone is expected to debut in June and it could come with a few improvements.

Earlier this month, reliable tipster Evan Blass shared renders of the new Razr and it appears that it will get a much bigger outer display than its predecessor. It will also reportedly sport a redesigned UI on the cover screen.
